That Six Feet Tall Santa Claus…

xmas1

Three times. This year he called three times. The first one was to wish new year. It did not end well. Every word and every wish for a new and prosperous year was spit out with force. It was too much hard work, for both. Was it a discovery? Maybe not.

Then he called for the birthday. Why? Why now, when for the past seven years such a day did not exist? Even telemarketing callers are more regular and polite.

And then the final one, for Valentines Day. That was a joke. What was the purpose of the call? To revive the love? To remind how fortunate it was indeed to fall in love with him and how callously it was all put to an end, for no fault of his. Oh no, the fault was never his at all…

The phone numbers were deleted. Again added and blocked in the Whatsapp contact list.

Several other auspicious days and festivals came by and went. At first, the wishes appeared as Whatsapp status, explicitly and implicitly. Then the duration of retaining those statuses reduced. With another Christmas rolling by, the ritual has completely stopped.

By the end of the year 2016, we are back to being total strangers.

But then again, we wish Christmas to anyone and everyone right. So why not you…

Merry Christmas, to that six feet tall Santa Claus who never left gifts for me…
Even if I do not have a place in your ‘Special Christmas’ (another Whatsapp status) celebrations… You are always remembered…
A piece of chocolate cake is still set aside for you…
A kiss is placed on that bruising stubble buried inside that fake white beard…
A Very Merry Christmas to You…
